2008 Isuzu i Series 290 Review and Informations
The Japanese automaker Isuzu has released the details and other changes to its 2008 model year lineup of pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) sold in the U.S. market. Aside from the numerous upgrades and new components, the 2008 Isuzu truck and SUV models offer a host of optional special packages for its customers. Isuzu Motors America, Inc also announced the base manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) for these models.
First off is the 2008 Isuzu Extended Cab Pickup. This truck model is available in i-290 4×2 and i-370 4×2 variants. The 2008 Isuzu Extended Cab i-290 4×2 is equipped with a standard 2.9-liter four-cylinder engine under its hood (with Isuzu oxygen sensor), delivering 185 horsepower coupled with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The Extended Cab i-370 4×2 boasts a 3.7-liter inline five-cylinder engine capable of producing 242 hp, and mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Customers can choose Radiant Orange Metallic, Midnight Metallic and Cool Slate Metallic exterior colors.
According to Isuzu press release, features and some changes for the 2008 Extended Cab Pickup include fog lights, sliding rear window and leather-wrapped steering wheel now standard on i-370, head-curtain side-impact airbags, automatic locking rear differential, electronic traction control, AM/FM stereo with six-disc in-dash CD changer (i-370), new optional integrated trailer hitch and wiring harness (i-370), i-290 towing capacity increases 100 pounds, and i-370 towing capacity increases 1,500 pounds.
Now for the 2008 Isuzu Crew Cab Pickup, the vehicle comes in with single i-370 variant, but with two drive train configurations including 4×2 and 4×4. The Crew Cab Pickup is available in LS trim package, and the new Comfort Package consisting of stand alone options for the customers including AM/FM stereo with six-disc in-dash CD changer, seek-and-scan, digital clock, auto-tone control, speed-compensated volume, TheftLock and Radio Data System.
Other features of the 2008 Isuzu Crew Cab Pickup include auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and outside temperature indicator, leather seating surfaces, eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, six-way power adjustable front passenger’s seat, adjustable head restraints, dual-level heated front seats, sliding rear window and automatic locking rear differential, and electronic traction control.
Starting price for the i-290 4×2 Extended Cab S is at $18,084 USD, and $25,214 for the i-370 4×2 Crew Cab LS.
Meanwhile, the Isuzu Ascender SUV also comes with upgrades and some changes for the 2008 model year. Head-curtain side-impact airbags are now standard on all models. Customers can choose several trim packages and drive train configurations such as 2WD S, 4WD S, 2WD LS, 4WD LS, and Luxury Package. Starting MSRP for the 2008 Isuzu Ascender S 2WD is at $27,884.
